Welcome!

So, here I am - blogging on my new website. Pretty cool, huh? Thanks for checking it out.

In the movie "Sabrina" (the newer one with Harrison Ford - don't judge me, Audrey Hepburn is one of my heroes), Sabrina says, "Every time I look through a camera, I'm surprised. Like finding yourself in the middle of a story. I think I've been taking pictures all my life -- long before I ever had a camera."

This is me. This describes me perfectly.

My biggest cheerleader is my husband. In fact, he made me do this. Seriously! I was in school for a career that I really didn't want to do, and one day he asked me "What do you want to be when you grow up, then?". I said, " A photographer". I think it was within the following week that he signed me up to meet with a professional photographer and discuss and apprenticeship. And here I am. Below is the very first photo I took as an apprentice, years ago. A strange reception for a reluctant young couple who was already married. And guess what they wanted no part of? Photos. I mean - NO part of! They were running from us. Literally. So, along with a few shots of the sides of their heads, I also have tons of pictures of cupcakes. Why? Cupcakes don't run from you. And every side is their good side.

I loved that I captured this genuine smile!

I apprenticed under a photographer for one year. She was amazing. She taught me how to include people in my photos! Sounds strange? Well, I have travelled the world, quite literally. And I was lucky enough to capture breathtaking moments and views that you would not believe. And now, I am lucky enough to capture photos of people in their happiest moments! There is just nothing like holding a photo in your hand of your favorite day, or your favorite people, in a beautiful place. Family makes the very best art.

Please poke around on my site! And stay tuned for much more to come!
